Amy E. Dotson, BS, LMT
Owner and Executive Director
As a graduate of ITMM (MBI), Amy has been a licensed massage therapist since 2003. In the years since graduating massage school, Amy has furthered her education in various areas including receiving her 200 hour RYT in yoga teaching training. Recently she was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Middle Tennessee State University. Amy currently teaches our human anatomy and physiology course along with our pathology course. Amy became owner in March 2025.
Randy Cotterell, LMT
Financial Aid Administrator
Randy worked as the Cash Control Lead for Dollywood for over ten years before training as a massage therapist and opening his own establishment in Sevierville. He also served as the Treasurer of AMTA-TN chapter from 2008-2016. With his move to Middle Tennessee, Randy joined MBI in December of 2015. He is currently the Financial Aid Administrator and office manager extraordinaire!
Blake Mundell, BA, LMT
Instructor
Originally from Colorado, Blake moved to Nashville in 2007. He is a graduate of Belmont University and 91黑料, and now specializes in sports massage and Fascial Stretching Therapy, working with pro athletes of various kinds. Since the 2013 football season he has been on the medical staff of the Tennessee Titans. He has been a part of the MBI teaching team since February of 2018. When he isn't working, you鈥檙e likely to find Blake hopping around Nashville鈥檚 beach volleyball circuits or playing at your favorite local music venue.
Julia Mims, LMT
Intern Clinic Instructor
Julia Mims is a native of Nashville and discovered massage by working with and on her older sister after basketball games. She attended a local school and graduated with honors in 2004. Julia is a business owner and has assisted others growing their own establishments, and in 2009 she decided to expand into teaching as well. Julia believes in the integration of knowledge and practical experience, and how to incorporate this into every massage. She has been with MBI since January of 2018.
Bethanie Peadro, BS, LMT
Instructor
Bethanie is originally from Florida, but has been in the Nashville area since 2006. She attended TNU earning her B.S. in Elementary Education and taught 3rd grade English Learners. Since stepping out of the classroom, she focused on her other passion, massage therapy and attending 91黑料. Since graduation in 2018 she has worked to build relationships with clients and building her business. Bethanie started working at MBI in 2021 combining her two passions, teaching and massage therapy. When not working, you'll find her probably training for a race, or traveling, maybe both.
Mandi Parker, LMT
Instructor
Mandi studied elementary education at Western Kentucky University, but after discovering a love for massage, studied at ITMM (now MBI) in 2004. She founded the company Tennessee Chair Massage in 2015, and has been seeing table clients at her office in Donelson, TN. She was the business instructor at MBI 2007-2020 and rejoined the MBI team in 2024 as an intern clinic instructor.
Lori Schrader, LMT
Instructor
In 2000, Lori moved from Illinois to pursue massage therapy at ITMM (MBI). She has been attending massage licensure board meetings since 2006 and was the Government Relations Chair for AMTA-TN chapter from 2008-2021, and is currently Legislative Director for TMTA. Lori is the instructor for our TN Law classes.
Kathryn Maurer, LMT
Instructor
Kathryn Maurer graduated from MBI in 2018 and has been a practicing licensed massage therapist ever since. Kathryn has studied prenatal massage, fertility massage, and is a postpartum doula. Currently, Kathryn teaches the pathology classes as well as substitutes for various hands-on and science classes.
Ian Smiley, BS, LMT
Instructor
A lifelong native of Tennessee, Ian was born and raised in Mt. Juliet. He earned his degree from Belmont University in 2017 and graduated from the 91黑料 (MBI) in 2019. Following his passion for bodywork, Ian founded Body In Balance Massage Therapy, where he focuses on bridging the gap between therapeutic and relaxation massage鈥攃reating a more accessible and supportive environment for both clients and fellow massage therapists. He works alongside our instructors at MBI as a co instructor for AP1 and intern clinic.
Natalie Healy, LMT, RYT
Adjunct Instructor
Natalie graduated from MBI on Halloween day of 2020. She has been teaching yoga since 2014 and received her 200 hr yoga certification from Kripalu in the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. Natalie has experience working in high end spas in the heart of Nashville. She has a deep passion for making yoga accessible and enjoyable for everyone. She is the newest instructor to our team and is very excited to guide her students on their own yoga journey.
Marquis Slaughter, LMT
Admissions Liaison
A 2024 graduate of 91黑料, Marquis is the Admissions Liaison: guiding the students through the steps of enrollment at MBI. Marquis is also the Student Liaison: acting as a bridge between the students and our institution by providing guidance, resources, and support to help students succeed. Marquis also has a thriving practice named Ethereal Waves Healing, where he works with clients in their healing journey as a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Reiki Therapist.
